Historical notes:
Construction and Service:
Built by Vickers Armstrong and launched in 1941, HMS P36 had a brief service history before being sunk in Malta. The submarine was sunk by a Luftwaffe air raid while docked at Sliema Harbour. After being raised, it was scuttled off Malta. Interestingly, some crew members who survived the sinking of P36 experienced a second shipwreck on another submarine, HMS Olympus, which sank shortly after leaving Malta.
