Levant II wreck (Cable Layer, Cable Ship, Levant 2)
Location : Malta, 1,5 km off Grand Harbour entrance (35.90893, 14.53869).
General characteristics of the ship:
Trawler at first and then – cable layer for Eastern Telegraph Company
Length: 42 m.
In 1952, the ship was beyond repair and was no longer in use, so it was decided to scrap it. As It was being towed to the ground outside Valletta, the Levant II began to take on water and sank about a kilometer from Grand Harbour
Builder: Built 1904 by George Brown and Co., Greenock. Single screw. Compound engine.
